How would you describe your role?

My day-to-day role involves dealing with a mixture of queries, ranging from basic questions about the platform, to complex data requests which would involve working with the relevant research team. On top of this, we work closely with the sales team, creating sales opportunities and assisting with the onboarding process by providing demos to a range of clients such as investment consultants, fund managers, and academic institutions.

Why did you join Preqin?

I chose Preqin for four main reasons: the employees, clients, brand, and training. Working at Preqin provides the opportunity to work with, and learn from, experts within the alternative assets industry. You are exposed to different types of work, a range of clients, excellent training, and the opportunity to take on more responsibility. All these factors make up the Preqin experience and contribute to your career progression.

How did you first get involved in financial services?

My career in financial services began straight after I finished my Master’s. I worked as a contractor at Bloomberg LP for just over a year. There, I worked within the Fixed Income team dealing with client queries which were mainly based around public debt such as Corporate and Government bonds, as well as credit ratings.

What advice would you give to someone who’s interested in learning about FinTech?

Keep up to date with current affairs and network with those in the industry by attending career and industry events, and by utilizing social media sites, such as LinkedIn. This will help you gain a better insight into the industry.

What’s your favorite thing about working at Preqin?

My favorite thing about working at Preqin is the people. Since day one, my job has involved interacting with a wide range of people from different teams at Preqin. It keeps things interesting, and I always find I’m learning something new from each person.
