How would you describe your role?

My role as a Product Owner is to discover what products need to be built and deliver those products to the market. This involves understanding customer problems, prioritizing what problems to solve, analyzing data, engaging with various stakeholders, and working with a scrum team. It’s a balancing act between design, business, and technology while keeping customer centricity at the forefront.

How did you first get involved in financial services?

After completing my chartered accountancy degree, I started my career in financial services as a business analyst in investment banking in India, working primarily on regulatory capital requirements. After spending 4 years in banking, I pursued a business degree in the UK and thereafter worked as a product manager in a Fintech in London.

Why did you join Preqin?

Having been exposed to the alternative assets industry during business school, I was always keen on learning more. When the opportunity to work at Preqin came up, it was a no brainer. A new product and a challenging domain with a newly formed product team added to the mix.

What is your favourite thing about working at Preqin?

The people! I have the privilege of working with a talented and diverse set of people across geographies. This was my first experience starting a new role remotely and everyone here has been supportive and always willing to help. Every day is a new challenge but working with a great team makes you really look forward to it.

What advice would you give to someone who would like to have a career in Product?

Develop a Product Mindset in everything you do. Focus on the ‘Why’ rather than the ‘What’. Be okay with failure and never stop learning. There are plenty of resources out there, I would recommend reading Marty Cagan’s ''Inspired'' which helped me when I first started my career in Product.
